Ah, the poker tilt. If a poker gambler states at no time to have peered over the barrel of an approaching steam – they are either telling a lie or they haven’t been playing for a long time. This does not indicate of course that everyone has gone on steam before, a handful of players have wonderful control and take their losses as a defeat and leave it at that. To be a great poker player, it is especially critical to approach your wins and your defeats in the same manner – with no emotion. You compete in the match in the same manner you did after taking a hard beat like you would after winning a big hand. Many of the poker pros are not tempted by tilting following a bad beat as they are very seasoned and you really should be to.

You need to understand that you can’t win every hand you are in, even if you are the strongest player. Hands that usually cause people go on tilt are hands that you were the leading choice or at a minimum believed you were until you were side swiped and you lost a gigantic portion of your stack. Bad defeats are bound to develop. Face that certainty right now, I will say it once more – if your sister enjoys cards, if your father plays cards, if your grandpa plays cards – We all have poor beats sometime. It is an inevitable outcome of competing in Texas Hold’em, or really any kind of poker.

Seeing as we are assumingly (almost all of us) playing poker for a single reason – to acquire money, it certainly makes sense that we would play accordingly to maximize our profit potential. Now let’s say you are up $100 off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you take a huge blow in a NL game and your stack is down to one hundred and twenty dollars. You have squandered $80 in a hand where you should have picked up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and held a 10 – 1 advantage. And that fiend! He sucked you out on the river? – Well stop right here. This is a classic opportunity for a brand-new bettor to start tilting. They really just blew too much money on one hand that they really should have won and they’re aggravated
