Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
