Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
