Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While gambling on internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
