Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
