Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he loved taking part in various card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in these card games while competing against his father. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little bit and headed to New York to play some serious chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s initial 2 years were tough as he would play countless hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He earned some additional cash by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he might better his game by analyzing his life away from poker. He made an effort to get more rest and focus more on poker.

The real advancement in his skills happened when he started betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would frequently challenge one another. Howard had access into a few of the foremost minds in chess. With their help, Howard would hone his cunning thinking skills. He applied these strategic concepts to the game of No-Limit hold’em.

He also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master poker. She was an excellent student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper decision. He told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the strongest women players the poker arena today. He moved to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in money games for the successive decade. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
