Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
